Question 1

What is the current Quotemoss HVAC MVP?

Accepted Answer

The current MVP is focused on US HVAC pricing context. It includes a quote and pricing workflow for shaping job prices, plus pricing views that can show account-linked history, approved public price signals, and aggregate benchmarks when the available data meets the display rules. It is not a nationwide coverage promise or a non-US product.

Question 2

Do I have to share my prices?

Accepted Answer

No. Separately submitted prices are opt-in. If you leave anonymous contribution off, that submission can remain private and is excluded from comparison benchmarks. Saved quote totals already contribute to your account-linked quote history without requiring this separate submission opt-in.

Question 3

What does anonymous contribution mean?

Accepted Answer

Anonymous describes the benchmark display, not the storage relationship. A stored submission remains associated with the submitting account, service ZIP, and job details. The displayed benchmark output contains only an aggregate typical price and business count—not business names or individual prices.

Question 4

How are benchmarks grouped and calculated?

Accepted Answer

Eligible contributions are grouped by normalized job type and the first five digits of the service ZIP. Quotemoss calculates each contributing business’s median price, then calculates the median across those business medians. The result is reference context for a pricing decision, not verified transaction prices.

Question 5

Why is there no comparison for my ZIP?

Accepted Answer

A ZIP-based group stays hidden until at least five distinct businesses contribute to the same normalized job type and five-digit service ZIP. A smaller group is not shown as a comparison and is not exposed as an inferred partial benchmark.

Question 6

What is included in public pricing context?

Accepted Answer

Public pricing context can include approved public source price signals and aggregate benchmarks that meet the five-business privacy threshold. Your private account-linked quote and submission history remains separate from that display. Use these views as reference context; they are not presented as a record of verified transactions.
